Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome, Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development.

Many people are afflicted with and suffer from Asperger's, and there is little to no understanding by the general public in regards to this syndrome. There is a lack of awareness, so when people encounter someone who has Asperger's they view them strangely because aspies (as they commonly refer to themselves) act and communicate differently from the rest of society, so they are easily misunderstood.

In his book entitled Asperger Syndrome, author and Asperger expert Frank Ryan offers a comprehensive guide for understanding, living with, and treating Asperger syndrome.

Asperger Syndrome A Comprehensive Guide for Understanding Living With and Treating Asperger Syndrome (Audible Audio Edition) Frank Ryan Jim D Johnston Make Profits Easy LLC Books Reviews

Frank Ryan deserves kudos for this book. Asperger's, which is on the autism continuum is as varied as the number of individuals who have it. Fortunately this book covers a wide swath of issues individuals with Asperger's face on a routine daily basis. It cuts a wide swath through the myths and inaccuracies about any form of autism, including savantism. Less than 10% of people with autism have savant abilities, otherwise known as prodigious savants. Fortunately most literature on autism is veering away from that tired stereotype.

Frank Ryan is someone who "gets" it. He understands the Autism Experience. He like Dr. Tony Attwood cares deeply about people with any form of autism and he truly understands what this neurobiological condition entails. Whether you are neurotypical or have autism/Asperger's, then make this book a good friend. It has plenty of good, valid information and no doubt is an excellent teaching tool. I highly recommend this to all parents, educators and medical professionals.
kindle unlimited, would have been really nice if the writer was not lumping in the entire Autism Spectrum Disorder with Asperger Syndome, because not only is it all together now and has been for a while, someone with Asperger has a type of ASD but someone with ASD does not necessarly have Asperger, and in and out of all the yes but no, oh this was example of what's not true to use more pages, quite a few traits are not 'always' in someone with either issue and the constant generalities were insulting and in many cases untrue and/or were more in line with another type of ASD, not Asperger, along with the fact that just as anyone is not 'right' for certain type jobs/professions would mean why would someone with any ASD automatically be 'right' for a narrow selection of any, this was boring {and I just read a book 4 times as long on the same subject, but was not bored, nor confused}, finding this entire mess a total waste of time and energy

This was a good book as I had no idea about this until my grand daughter was diagnosed with it.
Lots of great information for professionals as well as parents, spouses, and self.
Excellently written, it helped me understand a family situation.
This book is one of few which is NOT totally about kids. There are suggestions for undiagnosed adults, and, frankly, it's the only one I've seen, so far, with that kind of information. There is at least one mistake in the book, though, when it labels a section about niacin as being "Vitamin C" (location 1197), when vitamin C is ascorbic acid. Niacin is vitamin B3.
This book does a good job of educating the reader about what asberger's syndrome is and is not. However there isn't a lot of application on what to do about it and how. A little over one chapter. Ok, depending on what you are looking for.
