These are difficult days in our world's history. Natural disasters are gouging entire nations, 1.75 billion people are desperately poor, and economic uncertainty still reigns across the globe. But you and I have been given an opportunity to make a big difference. What if we did? What if we rocked the world with hope? Infiltrated all corners with God's love and life? We are created by a great God to do great works. He invites us to outlive our lives, not just in heaven, but here on earth. Let's live our lives in such a way that the world will be glad we did.

Outlive Your Life You Were Made to Make a Difference (Audible Audio Edition) Max Lucado Dan Butler Thomas Nelson Books

I think Outlive Your Life (You Were Made to Make a Difference) is one of Max Lucado's best books. And that is saying a lot.

Outlive Your Life takes the reader on a tour of the first twelve chapters of the Acts of the Apostles in a way that perhaps only Max Lucado could pull off. It takes Dr. Luke's history of the first-century church and turns it into Dr. Lucado's prescription for the twenty-first-century church. He draws rich lessons from each stage of the church's first days--applying them to our day--in chapters with titles such as, "Let God Unshell You," "See the Need; Touch the Hurt," and "Pray First; Pray Most." He tells a parable of Father Benjamin, along with real-life accounts of Jose Ferreira and Bzuneh Talema. He brings Acts 2 into modern-day Guatemala and Acts 4 into present-day Turkey. He ends every chapter with an artful prayer that helps the reader turn the reading experience into a spiritual experience. And through it all runs his theme, re-worded in a memorable phrase in his next-to-last chapter: "God has wired his world for power, but he calls on us to flip the switch."

Like all of Max's books, Outlive Your Life is an entertaining read. But it is much more than that. As the author makes clear from the very first chapter, it is a clarion call for individuals and churches:

Acts announces, "God is afoot!"
Is he still? we wonder. Would God do with us what he did with his first followers?

And it is a prayer:

Do it again, Jesus. Do it again.

Outlive Your Life You Were Made to Make a Difference (Audible Audio Edition) Max Lucado Dan Butler Thomas Nelson Books Reviews

Wonderful insight and inspiration as only Max Lucado can write. I use quotes out of this book when doing presentations on helping teens and college students mature.
Mr. Lucado gave so many examples of how ordinary people have a lot of power to make a difference in our world; even children can make a big difference.
Was Mother Teresa created to prove that you can do something today that will outlive your life? God can use an ordinary life to bring extraordinary blessings to the world.
Read the book if you have any doubt that you can do something today that will outlive your life.
Great inspirational book. As always Max Lucado writes stuff that makes everyone feel good about themselves and where they are going. He writes so that everyone can understand. Mr. Lucado is never so "theological" or "trendy" with his terminology. If you have questions about how to be a good person; how to treat your fellow man, or how to become and stay a good Christian, and how to get to heaven; read any Max Lucado book.
I have read just about everything Max Lucado has ever written and, as usual, was not disappointed. If you have ever been 'down and out', homeless or helpless or if you have ever helped and showed compassion to those that were, this is the book for you. What does Christ think about helping one another? Then----what do YOU think about stepping out of your comfort zone and helping someone that maybe doesn't smell good or act properly?
Working with homeless and hopeless folks is not for everyone, but praying for them is. Read this book and then give yourself a 'compassion' test.
I loved this book and read it quickly. It infuses scripture, and biblical stories with 'modern' interpretations. There are many suggestions for living our daily lives according to what Christ commissioned his disciples to do. Highly recommended if you want to make the world a better place by making small changes in your interactions with those that were created in God's image.

OutLive Your Life
Out Live your life, by Max Lucado...Since reading this book, I have loaned out my copy, bought it for prize give aways, and given it as gifts. This book came to me at a point in my life that I really needed it.

Lucado outlines ways to become more. In the world we live in...a world that is self centered, TV says to do what is right for you. Things that are unhealthy for us are readily available on the Internet....Feed yourself first. Give your leftovers to those in need. Give your left overs to God. Lucado plainly tells us how to become more...in a way that only Lucado can do.

This book is for everyone. You won't walk away feeling like you failed, but you will walk away challenged to do more. And when you do more for others, the blessings will come back. Go ahead, take the challenge!

I am not paid by Thomas Nelson for this review. I have done it on my own free will!
Enjoy Out Live your Life....Help your neighbor~!
Max Lucado's Out Live Your Life is a very thought provoking book making you look at how you think about and treat others, especially those who are less fortunate, disabled, handicapped, etc.... As I read I found myself taking a good hard look at myself, my thoughts about others and their position in society and their circumstances. But what to do with it was a question I did not know what to do with. As I read further, Max gave the answer for me. Lucado shows us that we can not change ourselves without the help of God. And, he shows you that we as individuals can not help everyone, but when we as human beings come together we can accomplish a whole lot more. We all have gifts, talents, abilities, and resources that vary greatly. We need to learn how to come together and use all we are and have as individuals to help each other help others. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Pastors it is a great Bible Study.
